Diagnosis Story: Megan, Mama Bear to Charlotte

When uncertainty enters a pregnancy, the road ahead can feel overwhelming. Megan shares her family’s diagnosis story and the comfort of knowing they do not have to walk this journey alone.

“After Charlotte measured a week behind at her anatomy scan, we had a follow-up ultrasound four weeks later. At first, we were not too concerned. Everything else had seemed normal, just like with my other two pregnancies. But at that follow-up appointment, we were told there were concerns for chromosomal abnormalities, and the NIPT test was recommended.

The results came back high risk for Trisomy 18.

We chose not to pursue amniocentesis, so we will not have a definite answer until delivery. However, additional findings since then indicate that Charlotte will need intervention at birth, and those findings do point toward a T18 diagnosis.

This has been the most uncertain and challenging time of our family’s life.

Mama Bear Care has stepped in from the very beginning to remind us that we are not alone. Everyone has been willing to listen, help answer questions, and offer resources as we walk through this difficult and uncertain season. My family and I are so thankful to have found Mama Bear Care.”
