Mama Bear Care
January 29, 2025
Happy New Year! As we dive into 2025, we are excited to share with you some things that have been happening behind the scenes here at Verity’s Village. As our leadership team discussed our care program for parents who have received a life-limiting diagnosis, we came to the conclusion that it’s time for a bit of a rebrand.
If you’ve been with us awhile, you likely know the story of Verity Jacobson and how the news of her genetic condition threw her family into a tailspin.
But outside the Jacobson family, it’s a bit harder to explain what exactly Verity’s Village is!
We want people to have a better idea of the beautiful, eternal work we do as we care specifically for moms who have received a prenatal diagnosis. (Of course along with the mamas, we support and help dads, siblings, even grandparents and other extended family members. This is where our “Village” concept came in!)
We found ourselves referring to moms in our village as “Mama Bears.” The Mama Bear in us comes out when something threatens our kids…and that’s what we often see happening. As moms receive personal, practical support, they find themselves ready to fight for their babies, honoring their precious lives no matter how long or short they might be on earth.
Thus, we are now calling our program MAMA BEAR CARE! The image above is a sneak peek of our new logo, and we have to say…we love it! We think our artist perfectly captured the idea of the fierce love of a mama bear and the tender care she has for her cub. (And we absolutely love our color palette, carried over from Verity’s Village!)
Technically Verity’s Village isn’t going anywhere. It’s still the legal name on our 501c3 paperwork. And it’s the name we plan to use when one day, Lord willing, we have property and can build a retreat and conference center to serve our community through retreats and events.
But “Mama Bear Care” is our trade name and describes the care program we provide to mamas (and their families) when they receive a prenatal diagnosis. Kathryn Kerr, as our Mama Bear Care Coordinator, will continue to provide the excellent and personalized care for those who choose to be part of the Mama Bear Care program. As always, our prenatal support group is open to anyone facing a life-limiting diagnosis, and our bereavement support group is open to anyone who has experienced pregnancy or child loss.
We hope this change is a fun and exciting one and helps all of us better communicate with others what exactly it is that we do. If you have received care from Verity’s Village, we hope that Mama Bear Care can continue to be a part of your journey. And if you’ve been a supporter of Verity’s Village, we pray you will be excited to support us as we reach even more Mama Bears with the specific, tender care they need on this extraordinary journey.
Of course there will be some growing pains as we work to change over our website, emails, and so on. You can continue to reach us in the same way–our tech team is working hard behind the scenes, but there MAY be some glitches along the way!
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out! Our Leadership Team is so excited about the new avenues we have for growing our ministry.
